About CoKL

The Corpus Kalendarium (CoKL) is a project to digitally collect the calendar entries from European Books of Hours and correlate the saints and other feasts. The calendar entries, along with metadata about both the calendar and the overall manuscript, is stored in a relational database in order to generate a searchable dataset of all facets of the calendars. This large dataset can then be used as a resource for answering questions both specific, such as the change in popularity in a particular saint, and broad, such as dialectical changes in names or religious title. The calendars can be compared between different manuscripts to get a measure of difference, which can be used as a proxy for determining the origin of un-provinanced manuscripts.(not yet complete)
